EDITOR – I read with dismay in the latest Highway Mail of the imminent closure of Kloof Pharmarcy. We have been part of that close-knit establishment for 30 years and it is unthinkable that it will no longer be there.
The memories are too numerous, let it just be said that nowhere else would pharmacist like Peter Kidd insist you take your prescription medicine home because you are coughing so badly even though you have insufficient funds.
Nowhere else would the likes of Heather, Denny, Audrey, Margaret or Marion gladly walk to the next pharmacy to supply one with an item not on their shelves.
Pharmacists like Pam Mapp are knowledgeable obliging and friendly.
The staff are willing to order whatever one needs and often keep an item under the counter for one. They know their customers by name and are only too happy to oblige with a discount on pensioners’ day.
At time Peter Kidd’s father stood in for for him and it was easy to see where the courteous, caring, considerate treatment originated. Thank you all so much.
I don’t know what has caused the change in the fortunes of this pharmacy but I wish everyone connected with it well.
