Colts nab three weekend wins
The Hillcrest Villagers Junior Rugby teams took home three wins at the weekend tournament in Queensburgh.
THE Hillcrest Villagers Colts’ teams marched down to Queensburgh this weekend, emboldened by having no less than 29 of their players selected for the DRSU representative teams to compete in the fourth round of league fixtures.
The U13A team took on the Crusaders in the first match of the morning and won 15-5, with Kyle Kilfoil and Keagan Hosken crossing the whitewash. Hosken added a conversion and a penalty.
In the U13 B fixture, the Hillcrest boys took on the hosts Queensburgh and came away with a 24-15 victory, courtesy of five pointers by Tristan de Kock (2), Mathew van Rensburg and Danie van Huizen and two conversions by Josh Lockwood.
The U15 team were less fortunate, coming away with a gutsy 0-10 defeat against the Collegians outfit who were simply more ‘up for it’ after losing to Hillcrest in the first round.
The U16A team earned a respectable 30-3 win over the mighty Rovers confirming their well-earned spot at the top of the U16 league and as the only undefeated Hillcrest Villagers team. James Wheeler, Jason Gilbey and Tristan Dixon (2) all dotted down for Hillcrest with scrumhalf Bryce Kitching adding the balance of the tally with two penalty goals and two conversions.
Although IPT fever is upon us all, there are still three weeks of league fixtures ahead before the DRSU teams head for the IPT in Pretoria. League fixtures are once again at Queensburgh this coming weekend.
