Kloof Pharmacy bids fond farewell

Letter to the Editor - week ending 10 January 2014.

EDITOR – To all my friends in Kloof, sadly, we closed our doors for the last time on Friday 22 November at 5pm.

For my staff and I, it was an emotional and difficult time, and I want to say thank you to all of them.

There is little point in dwelling on the events that have led to our closing, except to say that I have had difficulty in renewing my lease, and that the landlord has different plans for this building.

I want to take this opportunity to extend my thanks to all the people in Kloof who have supported us over the years. Their cheeriness and affection have contributed to the success of my pharmacy practice. Our pharmacy has been more than just another pharmacy, but a trusted gathering place for everyone living in this wonderful area, and a place we’ve all shared ideas and laughter and for that I am so grateful.

Over the last 38 years, I have been privileged to work with some of the most knowledgeable and compassionate pharmacists in the area. We all know who they are, and I can never repay the debt of gratitude I owe them. Fortunately, some of them will be helping at Field’s Centre Pharmacy.

Once again, from a humble pharmacist who has spent most of his waking life standing behind the dispensary counter at Kloof Pharmacy, thank you all for enriching my spirit and my life. Thank you for sharing your families, your hopes, your dreams, your ailments, your problems, and especially your senses of humour. I will miss you all.

Our pharmacy in the Field’s Centre will remain open, and I know I will be seeing many friends there.
