EDITOR – It has been over three months since the new Watercrest Spar opened in Inanda Road opposite Pick ‘n Pay.
The robot intersection to the shops is incomplete and has a four way traffic signalling system which is totally disruptive to traffic flow. There has been no progress on this intersection since the Spar opened up in November 2013, and work started on this intersection in October 2012. It leads to incredible traffic jams along Inanda Road and Link Road.
Why has nothing been done about this? Why do we have a four way robot controlled system that merely backs up traffic along Inanda Road and Link Road? As a result, those coming from Link Road in the morning duck down David Drive, turn right into Rowles Avenue, and then rejoin by Rock Road or The Walk to avoid this congestion. Who is in charge of this project?
Out of interest, during the load shedding last week, the robots were out of order and everyone used this intersection as a four way stop with no traffic jams whatsoever. Scrap the robots and put in stop signs.
