Gordon Pirrie Crescent needs urgent attention

Despite three years of pleas to upgrade Gordon Pirrie Crescent in New Germany, the road remains in a sorry state.

EDITOR – I have been a resident of Gordon Pirrie Crescent in New Germany for the past 14 years.

In that time there has been no maintenance done by the municipality, ie : tarring of the roads, there is no pavement/walkway for our domestic workers and our children have to walk on the main road to Lyndhurst School daily. The tar curbs are non existent as they have broken up and all that grows there now are weeds and grass. This has led to all the residents residing in this road not feeling safe and being very concerned and worried all the time for the safety of their children walking to school on Gordon Pirrie Crescent, New Germany road, plus their domestic workers getting to work safely without being knocked over.

I have been trying for three years now for the Municipality Roads Division to come out and see me to do something about this but I have had no reply whatsoever from them in three years. Who’s in charge of this division? If my information is correct Gordon Pirrie Crescent falls under section 9. Our rates and taxes are been paid by all the residents in Gordon Pirrie Crescent, and we are pleading for the municipality/Roads Division to do something about this urgently.

All the residents request a brand new tarred road and new tarred curbs to be done on our road with the walkway/pavement. This is needed so residents, children and domestic workers can walk on a pavement and not on the road of Gordon Pirrie Crescent.

Maybe if all the residents get together we will petition against paying our rates and taxes until something gets done. What more is a resident suppose to do if nobody replies to your e-mails for three years?
