EDITOR – It is alarming and very scary how quickly our once beautiful and well-kept suburb of Westville has deteriorated into a neglected, sad and untidy mess.
Islands are overgrown with weeds, which are sprouting out from verges, roadsides and pavements.
There are potholes, road signs have fallen down, armco barriers are bent and buckled; and as for the flimsy fencing in the middle of the M13 – large portions are broken and in tatters with the upright poles lying skew – very unsightly and in some cases dangerous as they protrude into the road.
The Westville North Library grounds and children’s park are in a shocking condition. We won’t mention the unfinished pavements in Westville central.
I have reported all the above to the relevant departments but with no results.
And now I see the graffiti artists have struck again. What can we do? Who can help us clean up Westville?
A big thanks to Glenda Gossman and the Westville Conservancy for all their hard work in trying to keep Westville beautiful.
