Comrades route deviation a joke

One wonders for how many more Comrades Marathons this almost kilometre-long deviation will be the norm.

EDITOR – I would like to send my best wishes to all of the thousands of athletes participating in the inaugural ‘Comrades/GO!Durban 1km Grand Pinetown Steeplechase’ on the 31 May (tongue firmly in cheek).

I wish them all good fortune and excellent tail-winds, and that they and their running shoes make it out of the Pinetown CBD in one piece, unlike so many of our motor vehicles at the moment (thanks to the war zone/slum which our once proud town and its roads resemble at present).

One wonders for how many more Comrades Marathons this almost kilometre-long deviation will be the norm.

For almost as long as narrow Bamboo Lane has become the main thoroughfare of Pinetown, new potholes and all, or until this entire farce is completed in 2027?
