Pinetown really is a mess

Letter to the Editor - week ending 29 July 2016.

EDITOR – A well written letter by State of Pinetown is a disgrace. Never truer words written. I will continue where you left off.

The road works in Old Main Road and feeder roads – will they ever be completed? There is clear evidence of a lack of qualified project management without any current or forward planning skills in place. Jumping from one road to another without completing the previous stage. There are new deviations every day and construction material is untidily scattered all over the show and is not being used. Some days we work, others we don’t.

To make matters worse, this disorganised project was televised country and world-wide for the second successive year, courtesy of televising the Comrades Marathon. What does the world think of us? No progress in development.

Further to this is the lack of sporting facilities, no more rugby, hockey or tennis and where is the Athletics club? The area is now a congregation of taxis and the frequent evidence of filth and litter in the area. The swimming pool does not enhance marketability of Pinetown at all.

The suburb roads are in poor condition, full of pot holes circled with yellow paint but never repaired. I have lived in Pinetown for 64 years and never before has it been in such shocking and disgraceful condition.

It is time eThekwini woke up and put us back on the map, for better reasons than at present.

An embarrassed resident
