Motorists to look out for geese crossing roads in Hillcrest

"This took place just before the traffic humps outside the school, on a straight road with good visibility and a 40 kph speed limit."

I WAS horrified to see a dead goose in the middle of the road, as we drove along Ridge Road in Hillcrest on 11 December.

The impact must have been bad as the feathers covered the entire road from verge to verge.

This took place just before the traffic humps outside the school, on a straight road with good visibility and a 40kph speed limit.

I have seen motorists in busy Inanda Road slow down for the geese and allow them to move off. It only takes a bit of humanity to do this and speaks volumes for this motorist to then leave it on the road.

It took us little more than a minute to pull over and remove the poor creature and put it in a bag. Why the need to smash into it in the first place?
