MY parents live in the vicinity of Edgewood College and my father found this arrow impaled into his orchid in the garden.
This is extremely dangerous as the tip is razor sharp and if it landed on someone, it could cause life threatening injuries.
These are not toys and should be treated with respect and only discharged in a suitable area, for example, at an archery club.
I have spoken to a member of one of these clubs and he said that an arrow like this could go right through a person at 50m!
I certainly hope that this arrow wasn’t shot at monkeys or birds.
Please warn people in the Highway area stressing that at no time should these arrows be discharged in a built-up area, nor should they be used by underage and unsupervised youngsters, nor should any animal be shot at.
The consequences of “accidentally” shooting someone is too shocking to think about.
The consequences of shooting wildlife and ending up with a charge of animal cruelty against you is life-changing.

Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele, comments:
“This arrow can be used in areas where it is designated to be used at and not in residential areas. It is not an illegal object, but could be dangerous if shot in a residential area.
