Alan rides to glory

Local MTB rider, Alan Hatherley, will be competing in the World Championships in August.

HILLCREST High School’s SPAR Star of the Month is Alan Hatherly.

He’s been involved in mountain biking since he was six years old. He has won the National Downhill Champion six times and Cross Country National Champion four times. Alan has also competed in Italy at the World Mountain Biking Event and placed twenty second in his first-ever international race.

This year he received his junior SA championship colours and will be competing in the World Championships at Cascades in Pietermaritzburg on 29 August. Alan said he feels confident about his performance and is looking forward to the event as he has put a lot of effort into his training and expects to do well.

“Hillcrest High School wishes his every success in this event,” said Craig Girbin, principal of Hillcrest High School.
