PDAC members compete in KZNA cross-country championships

PDAC results of the KZNA cross-country championships.

THE Pinetown and Districts Athletics Club (PDAC) members competed in the KwaZulu-Natal Athletics (KZNA) cross-country championships on Saturday 10 August at Gelofte School in Pinetown.

KZNA mandated the Eskom Athletics Club to host the event.

Various schools and clubs from across KZN competed in the event and PDAC won several medals at the championship.

Wayne Scott took third place in the masters’ men’s 45 to 49 league race and Pieter Bardenhorst won the masters’ men’s 65 to 69 league race.

Teneal Featherby was third in the masters’ women’s 30 to 34 league race, Melody Oliver won the masters’ women’s 35 to 39 while Lise Muchna was second in the masters’ women’s 40 to 44 .

Janine Engels was second in the masters ‘women’s 50 to 54 and Stephanie Carlton-Shields and Antoinette Beekman respectively won, and took second place, in the masters’ women’s 65 to 69 league race.

Members of PDAC also recently competed at the 16km Mtunzini bush run.

Piet Vorster came second in his age category 60 to 69 in a time of 1:21 and Janine Engels was the first woman to finish in her age category of 50 to 59.

The championship was the official trials to select the KZNA participants at the South African championships in September.
