HCA celebrates art and culture

Curro HCA succestfully hosted its annual Crest Fest arts festival.

CURRO HCA hosted its annual Crest Fest, a Primary School Arts Festival on Wednesday 13 August.

This year’s festival, entitled Crest Fest Festival of Luminosity began at 8.30am with an opening parade led by the KZN Army Band and Mistress Fantastical, Judith Hawthorn, who was also the festival curator.

A So You think You can Dance themed competition introduced the pupils to a variety of dance genres.

The pupils were able to pick the winner of the competition through cheers and applause.

Several dancers from the Playhouse Dance Residency and the Pinetown Gym’s “Amabuto Jumpers” competed in the competition, which was based on the popular television series.

Afterwards the pupils were able to attend workshops hosed by the dancers, at various dance stations, to try out the dance moves they saw in the show.

Choirs and other performance groups from various schools in the province also performed in the City Hill auditorium.

The aim of the festival was to boost the confidence of the pupils as performers and to expose pupils to the various professional creative arts practitioners in KZN.

Mistress Fantastical was very impressed with the outcome of the event and thanked everyone involved for their input and support.
