The Pinetown Cricket Club are excited to begin the new cricket season.
THE 2013/14 club cricket season is fast approaching and Pinetown Cricket Club heads into the upcoming ‘leather against willow’ spell with a new face at the helm.
Long standing member Marco Chixaro was recently elected chairman of the club, together with committee members Andrew Dyer, Cynthia White, Kyle Gilham, Robbie Koen, Barry Dyer, Adbulla Shaik and Grant Olivier, and is looking forward to trying to restore the second oldest cricket club in South Africa to its former glory.
“We are excited by the changes that have occurred within Pinetown Cricket Club’s management structures recently and the new committee are looking forward to tackling the various challenges which we are presented with,” said Chixaro.
“Pinetown Cricket Club has a vast cricketing history and as we enter our 140th season as a club we hope to celebrate this momentous occasion with some fantastic on-field performances and the building of relationships and a positive atmosphere within the club’s members,” he added.
The club’s 1st XI’s season is set to commence on Sunday 29 September.
