St Mary’s scores win
St Mary's DSG won the highly anticpated match against DGC on Monday 2 September.
ST Mary’s DSG hosted the match between its 1st soccer team and Durban Girl’s College’s (DGC) 1st team on Monday 2 September.
The match was highly anticipated, as both teams went into the match undefeated.
St Mary’s looked the hungrier of the two sides, dominating territory and possession from the outset.
Shortly before halftime Saints converted this advantage, with Nicola Hamann calmly slotting it past the keeper in a goal mouth scramble. The DGC team came out from halftime, pushing hard for the equalizer which they nearly got off of a screamer of a free kick which required a great save from Saints keeper Sarah Boustred.
Their fight back was short-lived as Saints striker Britt Foss broke away from the defence, beating the DGC keeper to put the game beyond doubt.
In the end St Mary’s won the match 2 – 0.
