His Church pupils compete in US
Claudia Griessel and Zipho Mazibuko from His Church School represent in the US.
TWO pupils from His Church School were nominated to take part in the 2013 ISC (International Student Convention) which took place in Warrensburg, Missouri, US.
At the convention, pupils competed against other pupils from all over the world in a number of events which included art, drama, chess, singing, science exhibiting, short story reciting, creative writing, athletics and others.
A teacher at His Church, Cara Botha, said all nominees had to pay their own way to America, as these students had no sponsorship.
“Claudia Griessel and Zipho Mazibuko started fundraising at the end of last year. After much prayer and fundraising, the necessary funds were collected. Even people who they didn’t know, who heard about their trip, offered to help financially.
“Both of them competed in the athletics category and did exceptionally well. Claudia placed second in the women’s youth 100m and she also placed third in the 200m. Zipho won both the men’s youth 100m and 200m,” said Botha.
