Results for Kearsney’s successful sporting weekend.

Kearsney College had a jam-packed sporting weekend against rival schools, winning most of their matches.

In waterpolo news, the Kearsney first team beat Westville Boys’ High School with 10-7.

On the squash court, Kearsney’s first team won with a score of 5-3 against Maritzburg College’s first team in their Top 8 fixture.

The golfing results were as follows: the Kearsney first team beat Glenwood’s first team 5-3, and the Kearsney second team showed off their skills on the golf course by beating Crawford La Lucia’s first team with 8-0. Greg Mckay finished in third place at the KZN U23 championships held at Selborne country club. He has also been selected as captain of the KZN U23 team which will play in the inter-provincial tournament later this year.

In basketball news, Kearsney hosted Highway rivals, Westville Boys’ High School, for their final game of the season. Kearsney started slowly and were not able to make their shots, missing their first three attempts. The Kearsney team appeared to have given up in the fourth quarter, which allowed Westville to open a large lead. They committed silly fouls, which saw Westville converting these and pulling further ahead. The game ended 27-46 in favour of Westville.

However, Kearsney’s U16 team had an excellent outing to the St John Tournament, winning all their first round matches and finally placing fifth out of 20 schools.

Kearsney beat St Stithians 24-08.

Kearsney beat St Albans 39-19.

Kearsney beat St Peters 27-4.

Kearsney beat Realogile High School 25-23.

Quarter-finals: Kearsney lost to Nelson Mandela College (Mozambique) 21-23.

Place play-offs against the American International School of Johannesburg 16-15.
