Sport-driven Zulu aims high
Zulu's job includes planning tours, liaising with other schools about fixtures and assuring the smooth running of all the sports that the school offers.
PINETOWN Boys’ High School’s newly-appointed sport coordinator, Thokozani Zulu, aims to improve the standard of sport at the school.
This former Westville Boys’ pupil believes that pupils need to love what they do and be encouraged and supported in order to achieve their best.
Zulu’s job includes planning tours, liaising with other schools about fixtures and assuring the smooth running of all the sports that the school offers. He also coaches at the school.
Zulu was the first team assistant coach for cricket at WBHS as well as the KZN U19 cricket assistant coach, and was part of the school’s sports marketing department.
“I am sport driven and I feel that I did not reach my full potential when I was still at school, which is why I decided to take up sport professionally. I have a diploma in sport management and I have done various courses over the years. I hope that I can inspire young sportsmen to reach their full potential.
“I really enjoy the interaction with the pupils, which is why I still do a bit of coaching,” said Zulu.
This all-round coach has coached various teams in cricket, rugby and soccer.
While at school, Zulu played for the first teams in cricket, rugby and soccer, and also took part in athletics.
