Where to hike this weekend.

Saturday 27 June

Hike Isithumba (Old Baldy) – meet at the Assagay Hotel at 1.30pm (note earlier time) to drive to iSithumba. This is a difficult hike and not for the unfit, but views are worth the effort. Cost is R20 per person and will be donated to the Durban Green Corridor project.

Grading five – difficult, steep hills and rock-climbing involved. Contact hike leader, Abdullah, on 084 478 6779.

Sunday 28 June

Hike Longshadows at Krantzkloof Nature Reserve, Kloof Falls Road, Kloof. Meet at Kloof Gorge picnic site. Reserve entrance fee is R20 each. Social at Stokers afterwards. Contact Lawson on 083 716 2086 or 031 459 0576.

Hike Summerveld/Hammarsdale Falls – meet at Pinetown at 8am or Polo Pony Hotel at 8.15am and proceed to the hike start.

Rural tranquillity with a bit of industry on the side. Some river crossings, so be prepared. Good views of the falls. Petrol sharing from Pinetown – R15 per person. Grading three, moderate to strenuous, distance 19km.
