THE Pinetown and Districts Athletics Club hosted another successful 25km run/walk from Waterfall to Lahee Park on the weekend.

The race started at 5am in Waterfall and saw the runners run through Hillcrest, Winston Park, Kloof, Wyebank and New Germany and finish on the field at Lahee Park. The detour route seemed to have been enjoyed by the runners on the day.

Much organising goes into ensuring the success of any race and the PDAC race was no exception. Race organiser, Gregg Patterson, has confirmed that they had 250 volunteers on the day, without whom the race would not have been the success it was.

“Volunteers were everywhere, from the marshals to the water tables, from the entry takers to the ER24 guys, to the tea/coffee table to the finish line and time keepers and to the clean-up crews,” said Lise Muchna, chairman of PDAC.

On the day, 1 219 entrants finished the race. Along the 25km route, there were eight water tables and over those tables, 36 000 water sachets and 58 crates of Coca-Cola were consumed.

Lise thanked all the PDAC members who helped ensure the success of the race. “I would also like to acknowledge and thank all the sponsors who helped on the day, namely SPAR, USN, John Dory’s Kloof, ER24, Durban Runner and Amka products,” said Lisa.
