Top tennis schools serve great play at Kearsney
The tennis was of the highest order, with top ranked players from both schools making this a final to remember.
THE weekend’s top SA schools’ tennis festival, hosted by Kearsney College, provided a competitive standard of play and ranks as one of the most exciting in the 22 years it has been running.
The final proved to be an epic battle, with Grey College from Bloemfontein edging out Stellenbosch’s Paul Roos in a thrilling and tight match.
The two teams were tied at three matches each after the singles, but Grey managed to win two crucial doubles matches to clinch the title by five matches to four.
The tennis was of the highest order with top ranked players from both schools making this a final to remember. Grey College’s Philip Henning, the top ranked SA U18 player, led by example to produce some outstanding play.
Affies from Pretoria beat Selborne College from East London by six matches to nil to win the play-off for 3/4 position; making this Selborne’s best position at the event. Pretoria Boys finished fifth, Clifton sixth, Kearsney seventh and Rondebosch Boys’ eighth.
