Kevin bags two gold medals at Special Olympics

Living with Down Syndrome, he has also participated in the 19th JOMBA! Contemporary Dance held last year.

KEVIN Govender recently took home two gold medals when he represented KZN at Special Olympics National games held in Gauteng from 5-8 April. His medals were for his shot put and 100m track run.

Govender, a 27-year-old Escombe resident is a sports fanatic who loves listening to music and deejaying. Living with Down Syndrome, he has also participated in the 19th JOMBA! Contemporary Dance held last year.

Kevin had his father help him prepare for these games and as much as he didn’t anticipate a gold medal he admits he loves winning.

“What I love most about shot put and running is that it helps me keep fit and healthy, swimming and cricket are my aother favourites sports,” he said.
