Westville cycling brothers are on a winning streak

Evan and Warren Moolman hope to do another International Tour next year.

WESTVILLE brothers, Evan and Warren Moolman (U15 and U17 boys) took part in the Amashova cycle race this year.

With about 30 kilometres into the 65km race, Warren attacked the bunch and got away.

His brother, Evan and other club mates did not have to go to the front of the chasing bunch to try and reel Warren back, which meant they could ‘rest’ a bit in the bunch.

Warren managed to stay away to take the overall win (first U17 boy) with about a two-minute gap.

Evan timed the bunch sprint perfectly to take second overall (1st U15 boy)

The boys were very proud of each other on how they handled the race.

Their highlight this year was racing in the Netherlands at the Youth Tour of Assen and they hope to do another International Tour in 2020.

Warren is a Grade 10 learner at Westville Boys’ High School and Evan in in Grade 7 at Westville Senior Primary.

They are both Westville cycle club members although Warren has a separate sponsor and is also part of a youth/junior racing team.

They both compete in their respective school sports each term but cycling (both road and mountain biking) is a sport the whole family enjoys.

Warren is the current South African U17 Road Time Trial Champ as well as the current KZN road and time trial cycling champ

Evan is the current KZN Time Trial champ and runner-up in the KZN road race.
