Students shine at sports awards

The most prestigious award for the evening was the All Star Award which went to Jess Lardant (Durban North), Myles Brown (Westville) and Chernell King (PMB).

IT was touchdown for The IIE’s Varsity College U20 A Rugby team as they were awarded The Regional Sports Team of the Year at the college’s recent KwaZulu-Natal campus’ annual Sports Awards.

The event celebrated The IIE’s Varsity College Durban North, Westville and Pietermaritzburg sports students’ outstanding 2019 achievements in a variety of sport disciplines which included swimming, rugby, water polo, canoeing and surfing.

The most prestigious award for the evening was the All Star Award which went to Jess Lardant (Durban North), Myles Brown (Westville) and Chernell King (PMB).The All Star Award acknowledges those students who have excelled in their respective sports as well as academically.

National sports manager, Carole Adam, said the awards were a great celebration and an opportunity to showcase some of their top student athletes that they have.

“It was encouraging to see that the nominees were from a variety of different sporting disciplines and I am particularly proud of the student athletes and administrators who are able to successfully balance their studies and sporting careers, these students all have a bright future ahead of them,” said Adam.
