Trio net spots in Olympic hockey team

Three of the players selected for the SA Men's hockey team in this years Olympic Games have strong ties with Kearsney College.

KEARSNEY College has strong connections to three members of the SA Men’s hockey team that will compete in the Olympic Games in Tokyo next month.

Old boy Bili Ntuli, who matriculated in 2014, has more than 50 caps for the SA men’s team and was a member of the SA team that won the Africa Cup in 2017.

His brother, Sihle, who has been appointed as the assistant coach for the team travelling to the Olympics, coached Kearsney’s 1st hockey team for four years and is currently head coach at Pretoria University and is the SA U21 men’s head coach.

Jethro Eustice, who currently coaches Kearsney’s U14A hockey team and assists with the 1st and U16A sides, has also been selected to the Olympic team. He will also captain the SA Men’s Indoor Hockey team at the Indoor Hockey World Cup in Belgium next year.

The Olympic Games is scheduled to commence on 23 July, with South Africa’s first men’s hockey match against Great Britain taking place the following day.
