Careways Second-Chances sale

Kloof and KwaNdengezi. Tao de Chalain and Charles Phillips show some of the items on sale for bargain prices.

Don’t  miss the last day of Careways’ annual Second-Chances sale at the Kloof Methodist Church Hall, 4 Park Lane. The sale runs from 08:00 to 15:00.

This sale is one of Careways’ biggest fundraisers for the year and brings in much-needed funds for both their centres.

Fundraiser for Kloof and Highway SPCA

Warren Eades, event organiser, Liam and Jane Magner of Veranda Panda Band and Barbara Patrick, Kloof and Highway SPCA manager, invite the public to a fun Ales for Tails fundraiser at the Kloof and Highway SPCA this weekend.

Experience the best brews at the Kloof and Highway SPCA’s Ales for Tails Craft Beer and Gin Music Festival. The festival starts at 11:00.

This event raises money to support the Kloof and Highway SPCA. There will be live entertainment from some of Durban’s finest bands and children’s entertainment.

There are gin, cocktail and cider options for those who do not drink beer. Pre-general drinking tickets are R140 and will be R180 at the gate.

Entrance for non-drinkers is R50 per person. Tickets are limited and available online at www.alesfortails.co.za or at Kloof SPCA, Stumpnose Brewery or Westville Warehouse.

Sports event for elders

The +60 Sports Cohesion Day is taking place at Anderson Grounds in Pinetown from 09:00 to 15:00. The purpose of the event is to promote unity, health and fitness among the senior citizens and to motivate sports development throughout communities.

On the day, there will be social/friendly hockey and soccer games.

New Germany Lutheran Church is having a jumble sale. They will be selling clothes, linen, curtains and other household items. Doors open at 08:30 to 10:00.

St James Church, Morningside, will be celebrating its 121st birthday with a fête from 08:30. There will be stalls selling plants, cakes, jams and pickles, books, food and more.

Fresh produce market for Assagay

Macnut Farm is ready to launch a Sunday Fresh Produce Market.

Macnut Farm in Lello Road, Assagay, is starting a Sunday Fresh Produce Market for locals to buy and sell home grown produce in picture perfect surroundings.

There will be Sunday lunch, drinks and a bar available.

It is hoped that this will be the first of a regular weekly Sunday market.  The market will be open from 11am until 2pm

There is no charge either to sell or to enter and traders are welcome.

Durban City Orchestra performs in Berea 

THE Durban City Orchestra will perform classic and romantic pieces at St Thomas Church on the Berea at 14:30.

The orchestra includes two accomplished professional musicians in Charl van der Merwe as Resident Conductor and Jitske Brien as Concert Master.

The programme comprises three pieces: Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony, Francois Borne’s Fantaisie Brillante sur Carmen from Georges Bizet’s opera Carmen, and Finlandia by Sibelius.

Tickets are R150 and R120 for pensioners and students (excluding Computicket surcharge).

Booking is through Computicket and pre-booking is advisable.
