Get your pets vaccinated

Get your dogs and cats inoculated against rabies at the Kloof and Highway SPCA.

THE Kloof and Highway SPCA in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Rabies Project will be hosting an annual rabies clinic from Tuesday, 24 June to Thursday, 26 June.

Residents will be able to take their pets for inoculation during any of the two hour sessions per day, from 9am to 11am or from 1pm to 3pm.

The rabies clinic will be held in a marquee at the “Village Green” based at the Kloof and Highway SPCA, (next to the Nursery and Marilyn’s Tea House) at 29 Village Road, Kloof.

This clinic is a follow up to the SPCA’s first rabies clinic that was initiated in June 2012, following the dramatic increase in positive rabies cases.

Rabies vaccinations need to be done annually to ensure the vaccine remains effective; protecting your companions and one’s family and community.

KZN is a rabies endemic area and dogs and cats are legally required to be vaccinated against rabies on an annual basis.

Pet owners are urged to ensure that all dogs are on leads and all cats are contained in baskets or cat cages when taking them to the rabies clinic.

There will no charge for the vaccinations, but donations are welcome.
