Music lovers gather at Makaranga
The annual SPAR festival in the Hills was held at Makaranga Gardens.
HUNDREDS of people packed their picnic basket and attended the annual Spar Festival in the Hills which was held at Makaranga Gardens on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 August.
The event which began 10 years ago was originally initiated by Hunter Murphy of Kloof Rotary, with the idea of fostering music and song within the community. The event has grown from an afternoon event to a full weekend event with the inclusion of Art in the Hills, an exhibition running over two days in the Makaranga Convention Centre and featuring over 50 talented artists.
Sunday was a day for music lovers with performances by the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra and massed choirs of over 300 school children conducted by Richard Cock.
