Kloof climber survives six-metre plunge
Emergency services joined forces and worked as a team to set up a rescue system.
A CLIMBER was rescued on Sunday afternoon after he slipped and fell approximately six meters between two rock faces in the Kloof Gorge.
According to Werner Vermaak, media spokesman for ER24, various emergency services joined forces and worked as a team to set up a rescue system to hoist the climber back to the top.
“Some rescuers walked about 3km around the cliff face to access the injured climber, while others were busy setting up the rope rescue system,” said Vermaak.
The climber had a fractured foot, multiple lacerations and a possible concussion. He was treated on site for some of his injuries and, once he was hoisted to safety he was transported to the Hillcrest Private Hospital.
