The final day dawns for this year’s open gardens in Kloof
The 30th edition of the Kloof Rotary Anns' annual Open Gardens finishes today. Four inspirational gardens are open for viewing.
The Kloof Rotary Anns are hosting their 30th Annual Open Gardens in Kloof and surrounds this weekend.
The aim of the event is to inspire gardeners while fundraising for various charities, including organisations such as Philakade Care Centre in the Embo Valley, Voluntary Emergency Medical Assistance (VEMA) and the Fulton School for the Deaf in Winston Park.

The gardens open to the public include Jacob House at Waterfall College that is situated at 111 Ngwele Road, and is an indigenous garden overlooking the Valley of 1000 Hills.
Darryne and Philippa Welgemoed’s garden, at 3 Inkala Place in Kloof, has sweeping, colourful borders, a large lawn and a cobbled pathway through a small forest.
Gavin and Patricia Avey’s garden at 16 Alexander Avenue in Kloof, has many unique features, a natural pond and beautiful pots in garden ‘rooms’. This garden has wheelchair access and offers food and drink to visitors.
Natalie Massa’s garden at 1 Jacaranda Hill, 7 Meadow Lane in Kloof, is an interesting combinaton of indigenous and exotic plants. The concept for the garden design was to recreate Kloof’s natural grasslands which were once plentiful in the area.
Visitors are encouraged to wear sensible shoes to safely walk over gravel, cobblestones, paving and uneven surfaces. Remember to wear sunscreen and a hat.
Times: 09:30 – 16:30.
Price: R30 per person, per garden. Entrance for children under 12 is free.
