Sarnia resident gives hope

Thulisile Mnyandu calls on women to use their talents and work on smaller ideas and projects to give hope to communities in need.

WOMEN and young people around the world can use their talents and work on smaller ideas and projects to give hope to communities in need with Hope Journey International.

Sarnia resident, Thulisile Mnyandu, who was crowned Ms Hope KZN 2024/2025, recently represented the province in Cape Town.

She said Hope Journey is a beauty pageant that does not focus on glitz and glamour, as the finalists from South Africa and the world are judged on the contributions they have made to disadvantaged communities.

As a beauty therapist by profession, Mnyandu visits old age homes where she pampers the elderly.

“This is my way of spreading love; most of the people feel lonely as their families are overseas. They truly appreciate it and it brings a smile to their face to have someone pampering and listening to them.”

With this platform, the 39-year-old said she hopes to unite women.

“If we can work together as women, start projects, I believe we can start small businesses which can create employment. Times are tough.”

To make a difference in the lives of the underprivileged, the mother of four is collecting second-hand clothes which she distributes to people in need.

“I have been distributing at a centre in Mariannhill, I also took some to the Tongaat flood victims.”
She appealed to people who have clothing items that they no longer use to consider giving them away.

“There are many people in need who would appreciate them,” she said.

Mnyandu can be contacted on 083 436 7686.

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
