Young girls invited to collect sanitary towels

Dortley is inviting girls between the ages of 12 and18 to visit the foundation at 26 Packard Street, Eden Park, to collect the goodie packs on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and weekends between 12:00 to 17:00.

Girls with Hope Foundation (GHF) is looking for young girls to receive sanitary pads.

The NPO’s founder, Beatrice Dortley, said they have received at least 130 girls’ goodie packs, which include sanitary pads, toothbrushes and toothpaste, and are expecting more from their donors.

With support from local donors like Dr Moleboheng Hlakoane, Duncan van der Kullid and Naisha Avontuur, GHF wishes to distribute the sanitary pads to girls from disadvantaged families.

“I would like to thank Hlakoane, van der Kullid, Avontuur and Janice Watson. Their contribution really helps to keep a girl child in school with dignity. May God bless them,” said Dortley.

Dortley founded GHF in October 2020 to help young girls in her community. It was started as a dance group, then later included a soup kitchen to feed children, as well as a charity drive to donate to children from needy families.

The NPO also has various programmes to help develop children.

GHF aims to:

• Keep a girl child in school during their menstrual cycle

• Help girls to feel comfortable, confident, clean and representable

• Provide nutritional food to the growing number of children who need support

• Promote education while guiding children in the right direction
