Thokoza Local Football Association elects new executive
The election of a new executive committee comes after the Thokoza Local Football Association was administrated by an interim structure for the whole season in 2023.

Football clubs affiliating with the Thokoza Local Football Association (TLFA) welcomed a new executive committee.
An interim structure headed the association during the 2022/2023 league season.
The interim committee members were reelected on Human Rights Day, March 21, along with newly elected fresh faces who will form part of the formal structure that will administrate the league until the next elections in 2025.
The new TLFA top five executives are chairperson Sifiso Chonco, first vice-chairperson Brain Mfeka, second vice-chairperson Nthabiseng Tsotetsi, secretary Sthembiso Mbatha, and treasurer Pule Magoro.

The additional members are Siyabonga Thabethe, Sepeke Malefu, Tebogo Raseruthe, Bonisani Mahaye, Mzolisi Mehlomakhulu, and Thembelani Ndlovu.
Former chairperson Sepeke Malefu shared the chairperson’s report with clubs, outlining the challenges and achievements.
He said that despite the hurdles they faced, the past 12 months were fruitful for Thokoza football. He added that their trajectory remains upward, fueled by passion, teamwork and community support.
Achievement
As the interim executive committee worked tirelessly to revive the TLFA, they made notable progress in transforming it.

According to Malefu, the TLFA registered as an NPO with the Department of Social Development, which will open doors for funding opportunities, grants, and partnerships. It will also enhance their credibility in the community.
They opened a bank account for the association to manage its finances, provide transparency and safeguard the TLFA’s funds.

After encountering challenges with age-cheating, the TLFA introduced the MySAFA cards system. It plays a crucial role in player registration and participation in official competitions.
The organising committee reintroduced the Easter tournament that the Covid-19 restrictions destroyed.
They developed a proper junior league management system that nurtured young talent, instilled discipline and fostered a passion for football.

“While celebrating our key milestone, we look ahead, let us build on these achievements and overcome challenges together,” Malefu.
Malefu said some of the setbacks the association confronted included the chairperson’s expulsion, difficulties booking the stadium, delayed kick-off times for the junior league and a lack of sponsorship.
