Suspect caught in Kempton CBD with live ammunition and drugs

The suspect will appear in the Kempton Park magistrate court soon on charges of possession of live ammunition and possession of drugs.

One man was arrested in the Kempton Park CBD on March 28 after he was found in possession of live ammunition and drugs.

According to Kempton Park SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Dipuo Ditshego, the station’s Vispol commander Colonel Mashalane and sector manager Warrant Officer Pitso were on patrol when they noticed the man along North Rand Road.

“The officers asked if he would allow a search of his person.

“They found drugs and live ammunition. The man could not provide a reason for having the ammunition in his possession,” said Ditshego.

The man was found with drugs when he was searched.

“He was arrested and detained at Kempton Park Police Station,” she said.

Mashalane said stop-and-searches will be conducted regularly to ensure that criminals don’t have a space to commit any form of crime in Kempton Park.

The suspect appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court.

At the time of going to print, the outcome of the case was not known.
