Benoni wins the race

The Springs team came second with a weekend stay at the Soweto Hotel

THE Benoni team won the Caxton Reynolds Race, winning a trip for four to Mauritius, at a fun day at Boksburg Rugby Club on Saturday.

The Springs team came second with a weekend stay at the Soweto Hotel, and the Brakpan team third with a night’s stay and full day spa treatment at Birchwood Hotel.

The teams’ final task required all three final teams to start in front of the SA Reynolds Travel Centre early on Saturday morning where they had to identify 10 different countries on a map in order to get their next lead.

Then they had to go to Hirsch’s to assemble a Weber braai, after which they had to find the Birchwood leaf, hidden somewhere within Birchwood Hotel and Conference Centre. Their last task was to peal a bag of potatoes at the New Beginnings Centre in Boksburg.

The first team to arrive at Boksburg Rugby Club, Kate Rheeders and Jenny Seaton-Smith from Benoni, were crowned the winners of the race. Their charity, Rynpark Retiremet Village received a R10 000 voucher from Hirsch’s.
