MEMBERS of Benoni Flying Squad arrested a teenage boy after he was found in possession of a stolen car on Sunday.
The 19-year-old was caught driving the white Mercedes Benz C Class 200 along Pretoria Road near Van Riebeeck Station at around 9am.
The teen was stopped by patrolling officers from the flying squad, Kempton Police spokesperson, Capt Jethro Mtshali, said.

“The officers pulled over the driver and upon checking the vehicle it was discovered it had been reported stolen in Olifantsfontein in February,” Mtshali confirmed.
The suspect will be charged with the possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
On the same day, a 32-year-old suspect was arrested for stealing plastic chairs.
According to Mtshali, Kempton police’s crime prevention unit were patrolling at the corner of Greyilla and Kerk streets at about 11.30pm when they noticed a suspicious person carrying four plastic chairs.
“The officer stopped the suspect and asked where he got or purchased the chairs. The suspect promised the police he would point out where he got the goods,” Mtshali said.
The officer gave the suspect the benefit of the doubt and drove with him to where he alleged he got the chairs from, but the suspect failed to point out the place.
He was subsequently arrested for the possession of suspected stolen goods.
