Truck driver airlifted after serious accident on Allandale Road
The male was attended to by advanced life support paramedics from Netcare 911 and other services
A 61-year-old truck driver was airlifted from the scene of a serious accident on Allandale Road earlier this morning.
Nick Dollman, spokesman for Netcare 911, said at about 11am Netcare 911 responded to reports of a serious crash involving two trucks on the Allandale/Chloorkop (M39) road between Midrand and Kempton Park.

Paramedics found two trucks had collided and the driver of one of the trucks had sustained severe injuries and was trapped inside the truck.
“The male was attended to by advanced life support paramedics from Netcare 911 and other services and was placed on a ventilator. His injuries were of such a serious nature that an emergency helicopter was dispatched to the scene,” Dollman said.

Fire Fighters from the City Of Johannesburg’s Midrand Fire Station and Netcare 911 Rescue Unit personnel worked together, using specialised hydraulic equipment, to free the man from the wreck in which he was pinned. The victim was extricated, stabilised on the scene and then airlifted to a specialised trauma hospital for the urgent medical care he required.
Traffic between Kempton Park and Midrand was severely affected.
