School cancels its popular Christmas Market

CON Amore School has decided to end its annual Christmas Market which was held as a fund-raiser for 23 years.
Money raised at this event was used to provide transport for the learners.
“Churches, the Kempton Park community, parents and supporters of the school visited the market over the years to support the needs of our very special learners,” said Kumi Gieselbach, previous principal of the school, who initiated the market in 1993.
The market was initially a small beginning with a few exhibitors in the school hall. Over the years it expanded to a food hall and almost 200 exhibitors. Various congregations and their members worked very hard in the food hall, selling a variety of food to successfully raise funds for the school.
“On behalf of the Con Amore learners and staff, we want to thank everybody who supported the school over the years and for their involvement in the market. New ways of fund-raising to replace the project will include the marketing and selling of Casual Day stickers, as well as an annual run for autism,” Gieselbach said.
