Amidst the battle to stabilise the water network in Kempton Park following a Rand Water pipe burst, Glen Marais now has to deal with another problem too.
A pipe on Monument Road burst overnight, leaving sections of the suburb dry again.
Themba Gadebe, spokesperson for the metro, on Friday morning said the metro was attending to it urgently.
“A water tanker will supply water to the affected streets,” he said.
Water should be restored by noon.
In a statement issued at 10pm on Thursday night, Rand Water said the larger part of the supply system that was affected by the O2 pipeline burst had recovered as was expected.
However, certain areas within the City of Ekurhuleni were struggling to either recover or maintain a consistent water supply.
In order to address this, Rand Water implemented a 50% reduction to specific areas in the metro to allow for the complete restoration of supply to all consumers.
This intervention was scheduled to be completed by 4am on Friday morning.
