Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital following head-on collision in Pomona

The driver of the VW Caravelle sustained minor injuries, but was also transported to hospital.

A number of emergency and ambulance services were at the scene of a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a VW Caravelle in Pomona on Monday morning.

A 24-year-old motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital early on Monday morning following an accident involving a VW Caravelle on the corner of 8th Avenue and High Road in Pomona.

The driver of the VW Caravelle sustained minor injuries, but was also transported to hospital.

According to Stephan Henderson, Sec Pros ILS paramedic, it was a head-on collision.

“From what we see, the motorcyclist came into head-on traffic and tried to overtake and then hit the taxi head-on,” said Henderson.

“The motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries and had to be airlifted. The driver of the VW Caravelle was taken to hospital for further medical treatment.”
