55-year-old Endulwini mother of three still homeless

Mokoena said she would accept any kind of assistance from good Samaritans

Two weeks after she was kicked out of her shack and left begging on the streets, Anna Mokoena is still homeless.

Mokoena (55), a shack dweller in Endulwini Section, was apparently forced out of her home and her shack demolished by people who claimed they were the rightful owners of the land her shack was built on.

The unemployed mother of three told this newspaper her situation hasn’t changed since this paper published her

story.

“I am still living on the streets,” she opened up. “There are a few people though who, after seeing my story in the newspaper, came forward with the promise to help out with food and money. I really appreciate this, but my situation is still the same because I am still homeless. All I need is a place to call home, or to go back my old place,” she continued.

She highlighted that she’s afraid of going back because she may not be lucky this time.

“I lost everything when those people destroyed my shack. I have nowhere to go, no place to call home. I would love to go back, but at the same time I fear that these people may kill me this time around,” said Mokoena.

She said a few members of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) tried to help her rebuild her shack at her old place, but they were also chased away by a group of people who were drinking nearby.

Mokoena said she would accept any kind of assistance from good Samaritans. Those willing to help are welcome to call her on 079 618 6254.

Attempts to solicit comment from the people who chased Mokoena out of her shack proved fruitless, as the new occupants chased this paper away.
