MES and Intercare take hands for festive season – learners must help

A floating trophy is up for grabs to the school with the most donations and best spirit.

Mould Empower Serve (MES) Kempton Park and Intercare Cavendish Glen are joining forces ahead of the festive season and are challenging schools in the area in collecting key items for the homeless and destitute from the inner city.

Acting branch manager Helena van Blerk told Express: “Every year, between October and November, we conduct a Packaged Love drive, in an effort to make Christmas also a special occasion for our clients in the various programmes. The project, initiated by Intercare Cavendish Glen, will assist us in achieving this.”

This means that all schoolgoers in the area are called to the challenge where MES (situated on Monument Road) would like to see which school has the best spirit to collect the most items before November 30. This is a competition with cause that would, hopefully, see hundreds of toiletries, cleaning materials and sweet treats donated to MES Kempton Park, just in time for Christmas.

“If each learner could support us with one item a month for three months, what a difference that would make to ensure that no one goes unnoticed this festive season,” said Ada Botes, spokesperson for the project.

She added that a floating trophy is up for grabs to the school with the most donations and best spirit.

Donation drop-off points include Checkers and Intercare at Cavendish Glen.
