New Ward 15 committee members must be elected

The election will take place on September 14 at 9am in the council chambers at Kempton Park Civic Centre.

Five new members of the Ward 15 committee (Van Riebeeck Park, Birchleigh and part of Glen Marais) must be elected.

Nominations for candidates for the re-election to represent various sectors will be open from August 26 to September 6.

Representatives for the following portfolios need to be elected: community safety, health and social development, SHRAC, economic development and city planning, and infrastructure services.

Nomination forms are available at customer care centres, libraries and public participation offices. After completion, the forms should be submitted to either the legislature department, community participation and education division offices on the fourth floor at Kempton Park Civic Centre, Kempton Park Customer Care Centre, Kempton Park CCA manager’s office, Kempton Park Library office or Wynand Marais Community Centre.

The requirements to be nominated/elected as a ward committee member are:

• The person must be a South African citizen

• The person must be a registered voter of the particular ward

• The person must be at least 18 years of age

• The person must have no criminal convictions

• The person must not owe council money for services, or be in arrears, but is willing to make the necessary arrangements to settle the account according to set council policy.
