Expect major delays on Witkoppen Road due to construction work

Construction work will continue until September 8

Motorists travelling to the Johannesburg area can expect delays on Witkoppen Road as from today [August 20] until September 8.

The Department of Roads and Transport will be doing surface rehabilitation of various sections of this road during this time.

The scope of work consists of milling out the old damaged road surface and replacing it with new asphalt. Work will be undertaken between 9am and 3.30pm on weekdays and between 8.30am and 4pm on weekends.

The following sections will be affected:

• Section 1: corner of Woodmead Drive and Maxwell Drive to Eskom Megawatt Park (Witkoppen entrance)

• Section 2: Maxwell Drive and Witkoppen Road intersection (Megawatt Park intersection)

• Section 3: corner of Maxwell Drive and Witkoppen Road to Bowling Avenue (Netcare Sunninghill Hospital)

• Section 4: Witkoppen Road and Bowling Avenue intersection (Netcare Sunninghill Hospital intersection)

• Section 5: Netcare Sunninghill Hospital to Sunninghill Taxi Rank

• Section 6: Rehabilitation of damaged lanes leading into Witkoppen Road and Main Road intersection
