Bizarre tale unfolds as police arrest two for murder of man found in hole

The two men, aged 23 and 24, were found in possession of the deceased’s shoes and watch.

Two men in their twenties had been arrested in connection with the murder of a man whose body was found hidden in a hole next to a dam near Esselen Park on Monday.

Sgt Johanna Madiga, spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS, said the arrests were made on Wednesday at 11am in Igqagqa Section in Tembisa.

The two men, aged 23 and 24, were found in possession of the deceased’s shoes and watch.

A bizarre tale of how they came in possession of the goods unfolded when they were questioned by police.

Madiga said the men told police they found the deceased dead in his car in Igqagqa Section with the engine still idling.

“They threw the dead man into the back seat and drove the car to Esselen Park where they stripped the car radio and wheels, stole his phone, watch and shoes.”

The suspects were detained at Norkem Park SAPS and were charged with murder and possession of stolen goods.

The 24-year-old victim’s body was found hidden in a hole on the edge of Greenfield Dam when police investigated the abandoned vehicle. He had a single gunshot wound to his chest.
