Bones found in veld in Edleen sent for forensic tests

The results may be available within the next two to three weeks.

Two separate piles of bones were discovered by a security company on Colin Paul Street in Edleen on Friday.

According to Norkem Park SAPS spokesperson Sgt Johanna Madiga, it is not yet known whether the bones are human remains or that of an animal.

“The bones have been sent to the forensics laboratory in Pretoria for proper assessment in order to determine whether it is human or other remains.”

Area Manager for the security company Dean Butterworth told Express he was doing risk assessment in the open veld on Colin Paul Street adjacent to the P91.

“As we were walking through the veld, we came across the bones.”

There had been fires in the veld the last couple of weeks, since the remains were found among burnt grass.
