Mabontle Mabiletsa (19), a former Miss Inspire SA finalist, has again reached the semi-finals of another pageant, Miss Outlier.
Born in Difateng Section, Mabiletsa is studying credit management at Tshwane University of Technology.
She said she joined the pageant because of what it stood for in society.
This being its first annual pageant, Miss Outlier acts as a recruitment tactic for The Outlier Foundation. The pageant gives the girls an opportunity to showcase what they believe makes them an outlier.
“I strongly believe in the power of association. As a young woman I carefully select the brands I want to associate myself with. This pageant does not focus on just physical beauty, which works perfectly for me.
“We recently did a My Dignity pad drive with Ubuhle Bezwe Child Care Centre in Tembisa.
“The pageant’s and the foundation’s mission is to alleviate socio-economic issues within our communities by equipping young women with the support they need to create their own initiatives.
“All girls who participate will be invited to participate in the Outlier Foundation. This will allow them to develop a society of Miss Outlier alumni, not only to create a sisterhood among the girls, but to also develop their interpersonal skills, through the networking pool that will be created among them.”
Mabiletsa also said she would continue to help in the community as she is running her own initiative, SHE 101.
“Through this initiative we offer mentorship programmes and character development. We also empower young girls by supporting their talents.
“There is very strong competition as many women are hungry for this title. They are each doing their best to reach out and help communities. The finals details are yet to be announced,” said Mabiletsa.
