WATCH: Bikers make Panorama learner’s matric farewell special

At least 50 steel steeds rocked up

The streets of Edleen vibrated with the roar of 50 motorcycles escorting Jaco Ferreira (19) to his matric farewell at Panorama High School on Thursday evening.

Ferreira told Express on Thursday afternoon: “My friends and fellow pupils didn’t think I would be able to organise something like this. So, that’s when I decided to approach Pastor Tienie.”

Pastor Tienie Wessels orchestrated the large motorcycle convoy at the request of Ferreira.

“He told me it would be an absolute dream come true and I just thought it would be a privilege to do something like this for a Panorama learner,”said Wessels.

“I never thought so many bikes would show up for my day. This is incredible,” said Ferreira as the thrilling revs of more bikes rolled in one at a time.

Ferreira’s fellow learners could only watch in awe as the bikes cruised in.

What was Ferreira driving? A stunning red vintage convertible led by a handful of bikers and followed by silver steeds.

Ferreira could barely contain his gratefulness as he turned around to tell his crowd of escorts: “I don’t know how to thank each one of you. I’d give all of you… I’d do anything for anyone of you if ever you asked!”

The learners from Panorama School were not sure where they were going for their matric farewell. Ferreira said: “The school only said that it’s a surprise farewell in Boksburg.”

When Wessels was approached for further comment, he said: “I want to express my gratitude to Kempton Express for giving everyone a spot in the sunshine.”

Tienie Wessels’ church, known as Lofdal, is located on Rietfontein Road in Aston Manor. He also hosts a bikers’ cellgroup on Thursdays.
