Church celebrates Heritage Month with festival

Heritage Month celebrated.

Itshe Le Gumbi (ILG) Ministry Apostolic Church hosted its first annual heritage event, My African Heritage Indoni Dance Festival in fine style.

The event was held at the Ikhaya Lothando Children Orphanage Centre in Tembisa on Saturday.

According to the event organiser, Nompumelelo Julia Mfazwe-Gumbi, their aim was not only to celebrate heritage, but also to give children from disadvantaged backgrounds an opportunity to shine.

“Young Blessing Foundation teaches young and teenage boys and girls the simple ways of life. We motivate them and build and encourage their self-esteem.

“We promote community welfare projects. During school holidays, we promote dance activities, such as drum majorettes, gumboot dancing and traditional dances, to remove their young minds from infiltrating the township streets,” said Mfazwe-Gumbi.
