Author Sibisi showers children with presents on his birthday

The Double Blacks entertainment group joined in the fun and performed gumboots dances

The author Isaac Sibisi celebrated his 33rd birthday with children of Sakhisizwe Home Based Care in Ivory Park Extension Two on September 24.

On his third-year birthday outreach, he continues to share his special day by putting a smile on a child’s face. Sibisi shared the spotlight with Nosipho November as it was her birthday as well.

The care centre’s management received donations and was showered with fun entertainment, such as poems and dances. The Double Blacks entertainment group joined in the fun and performed gumboots dances and rendered a poem about being an African. Thando Lamula-Shirinda, a Mrs Africa 2020 finalist, was also present to motivate and empower the young ones.

Sibisi said he wants to make this an annual event. Three years ago he started with Ubuntu Senior Citizen, an old age home. The elderly ladies received manicures and facial treatments from his invited guests. The following year he donated books and toys to Thuthukane Care Centre in Ivory Park.

“What inspired me to share on my birthday is that I came from a disadvantaged background. We never celebrated my birthdays until I was 21. I wanted to inspire the young ones to have the spirit of giving so they can one day continue the spirit of giving,” said Sibisi.

“The gifts, which the children received, are from my friends. I asked them to, instead of buying me a gift, to rather buy something for the children. The gifts included toys, snacks and food packages and they also had jumping castles for the day,” said Sibisi.
